Application for Employment as Music Instructor

Garfield Jazz is part of the music department at Garfield High School, a public school in Seattle Public Schools. The program is funded by support from the Garfield Jazz Foundation, a parent-led registered 501(c)(3) non-Profit.

The program is directed by Jared Sessink (he/him), who is seeking to expand a teaching/coaching team to support student learning and enhance the overall experience of Garfield Jazz. Positions are currently available ranging from section coaching, private lessons, or directing a before school large ensemble.

We seek applicants that amplify a student-centered approach maximizing opportunities to empower the students individually and within a team-driven group setting. Student voice and collaborative decision-making are guiding principles of the program. The program celebrates the history of our school institution, the musical contributions of big bands such as Count Basie and Duke Ellington, and seeks to expand an inclusive and holistic jazz education experience for students in all ranges of ability and experience.
